United States
Приєднався 29 тра 2012
Most dogs enjoy watching these videos. Dogs are social animals and want to be part of a dog pack. When their humans leave, they feel like their pack has abandoned them. These videos give your dog a pack to be with while you're gone.
The dogs in these videos are shelter dogs. Your views provide thousands of dollars of funding for this animal shelter every month and help these dogs get adopted or fostered.

Clearly they need water!!!
This was during a very serious disease outbreak and the lead veterinarian made the difficult decision to continue with playgroups since they lowered dogs' stress level, making them less susceptible. But we had to remove the common water which could easily spread the disease very quickly. None of us were happy about it, but it was actually best for the dogs. We monitored them for symptoms of dehydration and avoided leaving them in the yard for a long time. And we held the playgroups in the early morning before it got too hot. Why doesn't the dogs get water ? And why do they look so skinny? Where are u located for donations
Regarding skinny dogs: we get a lot of stray dogs, dogs from hoarding cases, abuse, neglect, dogs with gunshot wounds and other health issues. We have our own dedicated clinic with veterinarians. The staff and volunteers work with the dogs and flag any issues. They really do heroic work! Typically the dog will then be evaluated the same day. We're in Tucson, Arizona USA and the best place for donations is Friends of Pima Animal Care Center. www.friendsofpacc.org/ Regarding water (copying again): this was during a very serious disease outbreak and the lead veterinarian made the difficult decision to continue with playgroups since they lowered dogs' stress level, making them less susceptible. Did you just hit the dog with a plastic jug? WTF
Here's what I wrote earlier about it: I went back to the original footage and watched it frame-by-frame. He grazed the side of Bonnie's head. The jug contains a small number of small rocks and is intended to make a lot of noise without weighing much. It was no worse than what the dogs routinely do to each other. The staff are trained by some of the best dog experts you'll find and I've sat through a 5-day training session with Dogs Playing for Life who pioneered shelter dog playgroups. I've read a lot of complaints in the comments but only one actually identified something the staff did wrong (it was about 3 months ago).
tell those dogs that I love those dogs
I might just yell that at the dogs while I'm recording a playgroup. 😆

My dog loves this he watches for ages
I'm glad he likes it so much!
The dogs wear leashes for their own safety based on experience with many thousands of shelter dogs across hundreds of animal shelters.
I’m watching this with my puppy looking at him and thinking how people could just let them go. So sad. Feel like I’m letting my dog watch scared straight lol
You mean all these dogs that are discarded by society? Sometimes people get into very difficult financial situations, sometimes they can't find housing that will allow dogs (or their dog's breed). Sometimes the owner dies and no one is able to adopt the dog. We've had hoarding cases where law enforcement had to take a large number of dogs away due to negligence and health issues. But I suspect a lot of them are people discarding their dogs. One of the saddest things is that almost every dog at the shelter has lost everyone they cared about. But when dogs come in together and get along, the shelter keeps them together while they're at the shelter (and people are encouraged to adopt both).
Hi! What is the purpose of the spray bottle?
It's a correction tool (aversive). With lots of shelter dogs in one yard, experience shows that it's necessary to let dogs know when they're doing something wrong. Dogs do the same thing with each other using barks/snarls/growls/etc. A lot of these dogs have behavior issues from abuse/neglect and so there's a lot of bad behavior. Ideally the handler begins by spraying the ground near the dog's feet. If that doesn't work, they spray the dogs feet, then back, and then finally their face. The spray bottle targets one dog. The shake can targets the whole group of dogs in one area. The jug full of rocks (used for the noise it makes, not to actually hit a dog with it) is used in extreme cases where a fight is likely to break out. The handlers work with the many of the same dogs each day, so they often know they need to start at a higher level of escalation than the minimum.
@@DogPlaygroupStories many thanks. 🙏
love to watching
Great!
It’s distressing to see the dogs that are so afraid.
It's difficult, but a large number of them eventually become socialized with other dogs, which makes them more adoptable and improves their lives.
My dog, Loviboi, is so entertained by your videos.
I'm always happy to hear about dogs that like these videos!
My Husky loves this show.
Wonderful!
🎲🎲🎲
All this is just playing? Jumping and no opening of the mouth and chasing? And tail wags? My dog was doing the same. I just want to make sure all are safe, they Didn't grow up together.
The key thing is whether each dog respects the corrections of the other. If a dog wants the other dog to back off, the other dog should stop and back away. That often doesn't happen and the dog wanting space will usually try to escape to somewhere else or escalate the corrections with snarls, frightening barks, etc. It's mainly about consent. These videos do contain some interactions that are not good in order for viewers to see what happens. I think it's good for dogs at home to see the whole range of what can happen. Although I don't show actual fights, I do include sequences of dogs not respecting other dogs' corrections (and you see the handler step in when that happens).
@@DogPlaygroupStories thank you very much. 1 is a bully mix (3 years old) and 1 is a Brittany (6 years old). I subscribed and will watch more of your videos. Thanks again. 🐺
@@white_tiger9298 You're welcome!
My puppy just sits and stares at the screen. This video is the only pet video that he does that for. And to be honest, I find myself watching it too!😂
I'm glad you both like it! The other ones are good, too.

“gotta entertain the dogs at home” my cat: 🤩
I'm so amazed that so many cats like to watch these videos.
I recently rescued a very reactive dog, and have been doing my best to desensitize her, we've done great on vacuum, hair dryer, and squirrel reactivity but I've been having a hard time finding a consistent and controlled environment to work on her dog reactivty since our interactions with them are unpredictable (neighbors open the door and suddenly a dog is there, we walk past people on a busy street and she thinks their dog is walking right at her and I don't have room to move aside, someone else's dog starts reacting to her, etc). I take her to open parks, and it helps some with giving us space but I can't control if there are other dogs there or how long they'll stay. Most of my friends in the area have cats and can't help. This is helping immensely with training, I could see genuine improvement after just a few hours. She loves her new reality show. Thanks for this, we appreciate it💖
😃This is wonderful! I'm really glad your rescue dog is becoming less reactive with training and that these videos are helping. I hope that they provide meaningful entertainment and education for her and that she'll have fun out there with the other dogs. Thanks for sharing this!
It's interesting how some dogs like others better and will continue to ask them to play even when the other dog is not interested.
Yeah, this is a common problem and something that dogs need to learn in order to function in social situations. I view it a lot like kindergarten for humans. Many dogs will really want to play with one specific other dog, but that dog may not want to play. They might not be feeling well, they might be fearful or overwhelmed by the playgroup, they might not like a dog who is too aggressive, or they simply might not like that particular dog. Sometimes a very charismatic dog enters the yard: happy attitude, likes other dogs and being social, quickly recognizes cues from other dogs and reacts appropriately, has a lot of energy and wants to play. You'll often see them stop in the middle of play and sniff every new dog they see. Sometimes a dog will only want to play with that charismatic dog, but _they_ want to play with lots of dogs. There's nothing wrong with a dog correcting another dog who then backs off. But if that dog _doesn't_ stop, it can escalate badly. The playgroups are amazing places with all sorts of complex interactions, which is why I called this channel Dog Playgroup Stories. So many stories unfold in these videos.

I have seen several intact males; I assume they will be neutered as soon as possible. If only people would spay and neuter their pets shelters wouldn't be so over crowded. Most areas have low cost surgery available
They get altered before being adopted, but there's a huge backlog at the clinic. I definitely agree that people should spay/neuter. You're right that we would have far fewer dogs at the shelter if people did.
My two small toy dogs are tuned in. It keeps them entertained, and I can get things done. Funny because one of them hates tv, but will watch this and not blink.
I'm glad they both enjoy the videos!
Is that Magnus who was adopted?
Yes. This video was actually recorded before #28, but I wanted to get the video showing Magnus being adopted published ASAP so people who were part of the adoption could see it right away. I swapped the numbers (28 <---> 29) and published them in reverse order. Magnus hasn't returned to the shelter. I'm currently vacationing in Colorado so I built up a backlog.

Thank goodness for the caring people who volunteer to make the stay at the shelter as happy as can be for these unfortunate dogs whose lives were turned upside down.
Thanks! The shelter has over 500 dogs right now and the staff and volunteers go to heroic lengths to take care of each one of them.

god I can only imagine the fleas, parasites and ticks they'd pick up. I never take my dogs to places like dog parks or centralised dog areas - too many problems!
This is the county animal shelter. The staff and volunteers work very hard to take care of each of the 500 dogs we have and get them adopted or fostered. Given the strays, hoarding cases, abuse, and neglect we see with many incoming dogs, those dogs are better off here than where they were before.
I'm not a dog. 😂
Many humans and cats like these videos, too. 😄
